Record Setting Buffs Stampede to State

Meade has never been better in boys basketball. The Buffaloes have a school recored 23 wins, they are the number one seed in the state tournament, and have been ranked number one all season in 2A.

The Buffaloes beat Syracuse 76-54 Saturday night in the sub state final in front of a packed house in Meade. MHS moves on to play 10-13 Brookville/Ell Saline Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m. at Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan. It’s Meade’s first trip to state since 2000. The Buffaloes outscore their opponents 70-49 on average. Their closest game was a game against Stanton County in which Meade was down four with 47 seconds left before rallying to win by three.

The Buffaloes have two seniors Adrian Pfanenstiel and Gunner Cordes. Cordes averages a team leading 15 points and four assists per game. The Buffs have size with 6’8" junior Randy Friesen averaging 15 points and 12 rebounds per game. Morgan Davis is a 6’4" sophomore scoring 14 points and grabbing seven rebounds per night. Sophomore guard Jett Little scores about nine points per game. Juniors Chris Hardaway, Trevin Wiens, and Mark Fenster are key Buffaloes.

Meade was 18-4 last year and will be sent off at 7:30 Wednesday morning in Meade.
