Rattlers Open Season and 14U Wins Goddard Tournament

The Liberal Rattlers opened their season Friday and Saturday at Goddard.  On Friday, Liberal beat the Midwest Monarchs 14-7 and tied Kansas Velo 4-4.  On Saturday, the Rattlers lost to Seward (ZKE Storage) 14-7 and lost to the Dodge City Mayhem 8-7.  Cade Thomas worked 4 and 1/3 in relief in game one to get the win.  He allowed two runs on four hits.  Marco Alonso hit .385 on the weekend with two doubles and two triples.  Aiden Miramontes hit .500 on the weekend with a double.  The Rattlers host at tournament this weekend at the National Beef Sports Complex.

The future looks bright for the Rattlers.  The 14U Rattlers won the tournament at Goddard.  They opened Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 loss to Hays but bounced back beating the Kansas Shockdawgs 6-0 on Saturday evening.  Sunday was a big day for the Rattlers.  Liberal opened bracket play Sunday afternoon with a 7-6 win over the 316 Diamond Kings.  They beat Augusta 10-9 in extra innings.  The championship pitted Liberal against Hays.  The game wasn’t decided until about 10:20 at night with the Rattlers winning 6-5 in eight innings.  The 14U Rattlers will also be home next weekend for a home tournament.
