According to Seward County Attorney Russell Hasenbank, a Magistrate Judge presiding over the case involving former City Manager Rusty Varnado, has dropped the single charge of rape against the former City Manager. The State plans to appeal this decision. The other misdemeanor charges against Varnado, sexual battery and exposing himself continue to moving forward.

As a reminder, suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
