A preliminary hearing has been set for a Syracuse man charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of another Syracuse man.

Seth Farnsworth, 26, is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the May 26 stabbing death of Christopher Barr, 31.

The preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 30.

Farnsworth appeared in Hamilton County court Thursday for a status conference.

Authorities responded to a 911 phone call at 4 a.m. May 26 at Barr’s residence after they were notified of an altercation at the residence involving an edged weapon. Farnsworth is accused of stabbing Barr during the incident. Barr was transported to the Hamilton County Hospital, where he died of his injuries shortly after the incident.
