PowerSchool, USD 480’s Student Information System provider, informed the District of a data breach in their system. PowerSchool became aware of the breach on Dec. 28. USD 480 was informed of this breach on Tuesday afternoon. Additional information was released Wednesday afternoon.
This breach happened to districts they serve nationwide. Since USD 480 was notified, they have been working to gather additional information and will continue to do so. The District has been assured that there is no longer an active threat. However, it may have affected the data of the employees and/or students and their families.
USD 480 is serious about protecting the security and privacy of all data, whether in Power School or other vendors that the district utilizes. At this time, USD 480 will await additional details from PowerSchool and guidance from state officials. The District promises to do everything they can to learn more and will communicate directly with parents, guardians, and employees as we learn more about how this breach affects you, your family, and your data and the next steps we will take.
