Power School Data Breach

PowerSchool, USD 480’s Student Information System provider, informed the District of a data breach in their‬ system. PowerSchool became aware of the breach on Dec. 28. USD 480 was informed of this breach on‬ Tuesday afternoon. Additional information was released Wednesday afternoon.‬

‭ This breach happened to districts they serve nationwide. Since USD 480 was notified, they have been‬ working to gather additional information and will continue to do so. The District has been assured that there‬ is no longer an active threat. However, it may have affected the data of the employees and/or‬ students and their families.‬

‭ USD 480 is serious about protecting the security and privacy of all data, whether in Power‬‭ School ‬‭or‬ other vendors‬‭ that the district utilizes.‬‭ At this time, USD 480 will await additional details from PowerSchool and guidance‬ from state officials. The District promises to do‬‭ everything they can to learn more and will communicate directly‬ with parents, guardians, and employees as we learn‬‭ more about how this breach affects you, your‬ family, and your data and the next steps we will take.
