According to the trade publication MediaWeek the popular food chain Pizza Hut will reportedly change its name to just “The Hut”

High Plains Pizza Inc. in Liberal Friday told kscbnews.net that they will comment on the possible name change at a later date once corporate makes an official announcement.

The new “Hut” stores will be more than a place to just pick up your order but also a place that will include televisions that will air programs such as “Wheel of Fortune” and “Entertainment Tonight according to MediaWeek.

The change is also due to the addition of more pasta items on the menu.

There are currently more than 10,000 Pizza Huts worldwide with three of them being right here in Liberal. The Colvin family owns the Liberal Pizza Huts along with many others throughout the midwest.

The chain was founded in 1958 by Dan and Frank Carney. The Original Pizza Hut building was later relocated to the Wichita State University campus.

There is no time table set according to the report as to when the name change may occur.
