Personal injury collision occurred on Wednesday June 15th at approximately 5:19pm hours on OK-51, 3/10 mile west of County Road N 2460 which is located 1.6 miles west of Canton, Oklahoma in Blaine County.
A 2003 Ford E-350 van driven by Marlon Sparks, 66 of Perryton, Tx, was westbound on OK-51 when he passed out due to a medical condition and departed the roadway to the right, strucking a culvert, and then a tree. The van overturned onto the driver side of the vehicle, pinning the driver for approximately 30 minutes before being extricated by use of a reciprocating saw.
Sparks was transported by Canton EMS to Canton High school, where he was then transferred onto an Air-Evac helicopter, and transported to OU Medical Center where he was admitted for head and trunk internal injuries.
Passengers in the van, juveniles, aged 12, 13, 15, and 17, all from Perryton were taken to Seiling Medical Regional Center in Seiling, OK where they were treated and released for minor injuries.
