The Seward County Commission met on Monday evening at 5:30 pm and for Cimarron Basin Community Corrections, approved the Fiscal Year 2025 Revised Budget signed it for submission to the Kansas Department of Corrections. Commissioners approved payment to Attorney Colin Wood for services rendered for the Seward County Sheriff’s Department in the amount of $55,836.11, and gave permission for GMCN to move forward with issuing the bid package for the remodel of the Seward County Courthouse and allow County Administrator, April Warden, to continue to pursue grant funding for the scope development of a Courthouse Security project. TOPEKA – The Kansas Corporation Commission (KCC) will hold an open house and public hearing on Wednesday, July 10 in Dodge City to discuss an application from Grain Belt LLC to site two 345 kV transmission lines designed to connect nearby wind and solar facilities to the Grain Belt Express line. One line is planned to run through parts of Ford, Meade, and Gray Counties (the “Meade-Dodge City Line”) and the other through parts of Ford County (the “Bucklin-Dodge City Line”). The City of Guymon will be hosting the annual Public Firework Display in the park this coming Thursday July 4th. “The Guymon Fire Department has been preparing for this over the past couple of weeks”, said Fire Chief Grant Wadley. Western Enterprise Inc. from Enid, Oklahoma will fill the skies with their legendary spectacular show. Unique to this, the firework show is choreographed with music only played on Guymon’s own KKBS radio station 92.7FM. Pre-show will start at 9:45pm with fireworks starting at 10:00pm.
