On Saturday, December 7, Liberal Wrestling Club partnered with LK Sports to bring a
novice wrestling tournament to Liberal. There were close to 200 wrestlers who attended this
event.
This tournament was held to help new wrestlers and their parents before they hop into
attending tournaments with bigger numbers. Not only did the wrestlers and their parents have a
great opportunity to learn but so did 4 young refs who have wrestled for Liberal Wrestling Club,
Jaysen Macias (Guymon), Keirsie Carlile, Hayleen Martinez and Isabela Gutierrez (Liberal).
“We are very proud of all of our wrestlers in all that they do. It is exciting to have our
older kids take the time to help our younger kids. They are great mentors and set great
examples of what dedicated wrestlers should be. Keirsie, Hayleen and Isabela joined us after
wrestling all day Friday in Pratt where they each took 1st in their division and 1st as a team,”
tournament director, Krista Holcomb, said.
