On a cold rainy Saturday afternoon at Eck Stadium at Wichita State University, the Liberal Redskins played two of the top teams in the state from the Kansas City area. The #3 ranked Olathe West Owls topped Liberal 11-0 in a no-hitter and the #1 Olathe East Hawks topped LHS 4-1 in game two.
In the first game against Olathe West, the Owls scored five in the first, four in the second, one in the third, and one in the fourth and won the game in a five inning run rule. The Redskins were hitless. LHS committed four errors in the loss.
The Redskins played a competitive game against #1 Olathe East in game two. The Hawks scored two in the first and to in the third. The Skins chased home a run in the sixth. Hits were even at four a piece. LHS committed four more errors. Austin Dodge was 1-2 and scored a run. Skyler Hubbard produced the RBI. Blayden Betts pitched three scoreless innings in relief.
Olathe East is 13-1 and Olathe West is 11-1. LHS falls to 4-11. The Redskins play at Garden City Tuesday night at about 6pm on 1270 and 92.3.
