The Seward County Saints dropped two tight games to the Odessa Wranglers Friday afternoon in Odessa. The Wranglers took two 5-4 and 9-7. Seward lost both games despite out hitting Odessa in both games.
In game one, the Saints led for most of the game. The Saints scored two in the second, one in the fourth, and one in the fifth to lead 4-0 going to the bottom of the sixth. That’s when Odessa scored four to tie the game. The Wranglers scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to win 5-4 on a walk off. The Saints walked in the winning run. Tristan Curless was 2-3. Ranse Radtke was 1-3 with a home run. Seward had 10 hits.
In game two, Odessa jumped on the Saints early with a four run first. Seward scored three in the second but Odessa scored a run in the second to lead 5-3. SCCC plated two in the fourth to tie the game at 5-5. The Wranglers jumped on the Saints bullpen for one in the fifth, two in the sixth, and one in the seventh to lead 9-5. Seward plated two in the ninth. The Saints committed four errors in the loss. Seward had runners at 1st and 2nd with no outs in the ninth but couldn’t get a bunt down. Seward out hit Odessa and had 16 hits.
Odessa is 5-3. The Saints are 4-6 and play a double header Saturday at noon at Midland.
