PLAINS – Zita Jean Bond, age 73, passed away Sunday morning, July 21, 2024, at her Girard, Kansas, residence.

She was born August 1, 1950, at Garden City, Kansas, the daughter of Merle LeRoy and Mary Jo (Hayse) Tournade. As a young girl she attended school in Plains, graduating from Southwestern Heights High School 1968. A longtime area resident where she helped run the family business “Jo’s Drive In”. She farmed in Plains with her husband, Carl Ray, until they moved to Enid, where she graduated from Enid vocational school. She worked as a bookkeeper in several Elevators in Enid. Later moving to Girard, Ks, she worked at Producers Co-op until retiring.

She was a life member of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, the American Legion, and the Methodist Church. She enjoyed raising baby calves and spending time with her family and friends.

On October 6, 1973, she married Carl Ray Bond at Plains, Kansas. They were married 50 wonderful years. He survives.

Other survivors include her children, Vance Edward & Barbie Wright of Bonner Springs, Kansas, Marvin Ray & Angie Bond of Enid, Oklahoma, Kimberly Ann Worner of Amarillo, Texas, Karla Rae & Troy Thomas of Hutchinson, Kansas, and Keia Renee & Joe Mende of Amarillo, Texas; her brother and sister in law , Rusty & Marla Tournade of Eudora, Kansas; a sister, Judy Powell of Meade, Kansas; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Larry Wayne Tournade and Ralph R. Tournade.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2024, at the Plains Methodist Church, Plains, Kansas. Interment will follow in the Plains Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade, Kansas.
