Zachariah E. “Zach” Hammond

Zachariah E. “Zach” Hammond, age 21, died Monday morning, September 11, 2017, in rural Montezuma, Kansas, as a result of an automobile accident.
He was born August 19, 1996, at Senora, California, the son of Jim and Michelle (Kellner) Hammond. As a young boy he attended school in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Later in September, 2008, he moved to Montezuma from Idaho and attended the Homeland School in rural Montezuma. After his schooling, he began working for the Gray County Disposal for several years.
He was a member of the Cimarron Mennonite Church, Cimarron. He enjoyed visiting with many friends and family and attending social events.
He is survived by his mother, Michelle Hammond of Transylvania, Louisiana; a brother, Josh Kellner of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; three sisters, Rebecca Koehn of Meade, Kansas, Rachel Koehn of Montezuma, and Caitlyn Koehn of Galva, Kansas; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by a brother James Kellner.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 15, 2017, at the Plains View Mennonite Church, rural Plains. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Interment will follow the service in the Plains View Mennonite Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome memorials to the CSI Children’s Fund in care of the funeral home.
