William Ruben Lunceford, 75, of Tyrone, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2020 at Liberal, Kansas.
He was born on April 23, 1944 to Ruben and Bess (Nethery) Lunceford at Phoenix, AZ.
On November 15, 1969 he married Linda Rieck at Liberal, KS; she survives.
He was a graduate of Tyrone, OK High School; class of 1962. After high school he enlisted into the US Army in 1965, where he served as a Draftsman and a Carpenter during his tour in Germany. In 1967 he returned back home where he went to work with Nixon & Seaman Engineering which transcended into Earles’ Engineering from which he retired from in 2013. He and his wife Linda owned and operated Lunceford’s Shades Well Cafe in Tyrone for 13 years. William was an accomplished Drummer and played in many bands. He was also a skilled Draftsman, a prankster with a witty sense of humor. He enjoyed camping, fishing, being in the mountains, supporting OU Football and loved being with his family.
William is also survived by his Son, Timothy Lunceford and wife Melanie of Tyrone, OK; Daughter, Molly Thomas and husband Matt of Plains, KS; Two Grandsons, Eric Matthew Lunceford and Cade Michael Thomas; Granddaughter, Cattia Lee Thomas; Two Sisters, Mary Ellen Stoops and husband Lloyd of Boulder, CO and Susan Demetri and husband Allen of Woodbridge, VA.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
“Out of love and safety for the health of our family and friends”, a Private Family Service will be held.
Burial will take place in the Tyrone Cemetery.
