William Jack Painter, age 81, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at the Meade District Hospital, Meade, Kansas.
He was born May 29, 1936, at Fowler, Kansas, the son of William H. (Bill) and Blanche (Tillery) Painter. As a young boy he attended the Meade school system, graduating from Meade High School in 1955. After his graduation, he entered into college, graduating from Fort Hays State University. Upon his graduation, he returned to Meade and began his career in farming and ranching.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, a long time member of the Meade County Fair Board, and the Jaycees. He enjoyed horses, water skiing, tinkering and fixing items, the Meade County Fair, 4-H, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting and athletic activities.
On September 9, 1962, he married Mary Patricia (Pat) McFall at Coats, Kansas. She survives.
Other survivors include his children, a son Mark Painter of rural Meade, a daughter Debra Carpenter and husband Jim of Meade, and a son Brad Painter and wife Anthea of Wichita; two sisters, Jean White of Chanute and Kay Nye of Buhler; and five grandchildren, Nathan, Tori, and Ashley Carpenter, and Madison and Ella Painter.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Ellen Goodnight and Elsie Branden.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 10, 2017, at the United Methodist Church, Meade. Cremation has taken place. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family would welcome memorials to the Meade County Fair Board Association in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.
