William G. (Bill) Symons

William G. (Bill) Symons passed away at his home on Saturday, April 16, 2022, in Liberal, Kansas at the age of 79.
Bill was born January 24, 1943 in Liberal, KS and graduated from Perryton High School in 1961. He went on to attend Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, OK, Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX, and Wichita State University in Wichita, KS where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a minor in Business Administration in 1971.
Bill married the love of his life, Therese Sperry, in May 1965 and after living in Buffalo, NY and Wichita, KS, they returned to Liberal, KS to raise their family. Bill worked at multiple businesses in Liberal, KS before owning his own business, Southwest Data Services, as a Xerox agent for 25 years. Bill and Therese loved gambling and moved to Las Vegas, NV in 2005 after Bill retired, where they resided until Bill’s health deteriorated. They returned to Liberal, KS in 2018. Bill loved traveling, playing pitch, and playing pranks on people. Over the years, Bill was very active in Boy Scouts, Knights of Columbus, Elks, Kiwanis, Lions Club, Pancake Day, and St. Anthony’s Catholic Parish and Elementary School where he served on both boards. Bill was a quiet, generous man loved by his family and countless friends whom he considered family!
Bill is survived by his wife, Therese (Sperry) Symons of the home and daughters Kim (GB) Caedo of Olathe, KS, Jennifer (Randy) Miller of Mulvane, KS, and Melissa (Jon) Parker of Liberal, KS; grandchildren, Cassie, Alex, and Emily Caedo; Mitchell, Camron (Lizzy), Morgan, Jordan, and LnCpl Zach Ruckman, Samantha, Alyssa, Hailey, Katelyn, Sophia and Sydney Miller; and Ashleigh, Hannah, Elizabeth, and JonDavid Parker as well as great-grandchildren Cooper, Teddy, Cameron, Regan, and Easton.
Bill also leaves behind his brothers Vic (Carolyn) Symons of Liberal, KS and Bee (Dixie) Symons of Liberal, KS; his cousin and honorary sister Shirli Poulton of Liberal, KS; and brothers-in-law Jim (Gay) Sperry of Thornton, CO and Thad (Kelly) Sperry of Oklahoma City, OK as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents Willie and Leda Mae (Mutschler) Symons, a granddaughter, Madison Parker, and his in-laws Thad Sperry and Elizabeth (Maruska) Sperry Fetsch
The family would like to give special thanks to Nicole Daniels, Vanessa Avila, and Stefanie Lewis for the truly amazing job they did helping to take care of Bill over the last few years.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Friends Church (1650 N. Western Ave., Liberal, KS) on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 3pm. A Meal and Celebration of Life will follow at the Friends Family Center.
