William Eugene “Bill” Bauer

William Eugene “Bill” Bauer, 90, died Saturday, June 6, 2015 in Leavenworth, KS.
He was born Feb. 5, 1925 in Rural Plains, KS, the son of Joseph and Beatrice (Ward) Bauer. Bill was a resident of Liberal for 58 years, moving to California and Leavenworth to be close to family. He was employed by Tradewinds Industries for 22 years. He also was a self-employed carpenter and contractor.
Bill was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Liberal, KS. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII from 1942 to 1946. His service in the Coast Guard included piloting an invasion barge during the War and joining the Pacific Fleet to protect it and Allied ships from enemy submarines.
On Feb. 1, 1947 he married Doralene Hunter in Yuma, AZ. She died Nov. 26, 2000.
Bill is survived by 1 Daughter, 1 Brother, 1 Sister, 3 Grandchildren, and 2 Great Grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by 1 Son, Parents, 3 Brothers and 3 Sisters.
A private family service will be held. There will no public visitation.
