After graduation, he worked at the Burdge Grocery until 1943 when he entered the U. S. Navy serving during WWII. He served in the South Pacific at Saipan and Tinian Islands and received his honorable discharge in 1945. He returned to Hooker and again worked at the family grocery until it sold in 1957.

He was baptized as a young man at the First Baptist Church in Hooker where he was a member and currently was a member of Trinity Faith Fellowship in Laverne.

During retirement, he enjoyed his routine of meeting with his friends at the coffee shop each morning and reading various newspapers from front to back.  He was always ready for a good game of dominoes with his friends.  Ed enjoyed playing the stock market but the love of his life was his granddaughter, Kasha and all of his extended family.

Ed was a very loyal and loving son, and a wonderful, dedicated dad and grandpa.
