William B. “Bill” Rogers

William B. “Bill” Rogers, age 72, of Elkhart, Kansas died December 3, 2015, at Morton County Hospital in Elkhart, Kansas. He was born December 19, 1942, in Elk City, Oklahoma, the son of William Everett and Kate (Savage) Rogers.
Bill married Louise Reece on October 18, 1958 in Wheeler, Texas. They moved to Elkhart in 1971 and he began working for Epic Touch. Bill worked for Epic Touch for 42 years retiring in 2013. He was a serviceman and designed the fiber optic system in Elkhart. Bill was also a Morton County Sheriff Deputy and Morton County Fire Chief. He was a member of Cimarron Sports Club, NRA and First Baptist Church. Bill enjoyed hunting and spending time in the Grasslands. Bill enjoyed Elkhart and was very community minded. He taught hunter education courses and also coached baseball. His friends and family were important to him. Bill enjoyed talking on his ham radio.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Rogers of the home; son, Norman Rogers of Elkhart, Kansas; daughters, Sarah Rogers of Turpin, Oklahoma and Tammy Rogers; two brothers, Steve Rogers and Bobby Orr; four grandchildren, TJ, Colton, Brandon and Lyla; and two great-grandchildren.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents; and granddaughter, Chloe.
Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Elkhart, Kansas with Pastor Ed Richards officiating.
