Wayne Batman Griffin

Wayne Batman Griffin, a dedicated educator and cherished family man, passed away on October 26, 2024, at Kearny County Hospital in Lakin, Kansas. He was born on January 24, 1952, in High Point, North Carolina, to Grayson Franklin and Phyllis Naomi (Batman) Griffin.

Wayne and Connie Jean Trimmell were married on December 27, 1975, at Presbyterian Church in Liberal, Kansas.

A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Wayne is survived by his wife, Connie Griffin, of Garden City, Kansas; one son, A.J. Griffin, and his wife Emily, of St. George, Kansas; one daughter, Amy Griffin-Manring, and her husband Nathan, of Holcomb, Kansas; one brother, Stephen Griffin, of Garden City, Kansas; and six adoring grandchildren: Austin Manring, Kylie Griffin, Ty Griffin, Weston Manring, Wrenlynn Manring, and Harper Griffin.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Angie Griffin.

Wayne Griffin had a profound impact on the lives of many as a schoolteacher throughout his career in various towns across Kansas, including Ulysses, Liberal, Deerfield, Haviland, and Larned. In addition to his teaching career, he also contributed to the community as a farmer in Haskell County, Kansas.

Wayne found great joy in woodworking, gambling, and taking cruises. His proudest accomplishments were his children and grandchildren, who were the center of his world.

Memorial has been established for Angie Griffin Scholarship Fund, in care of Robson Funeral Home, 620 N. Main St., Garden City, Kansas 67846

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM at Robson Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas. Family will receive family and friends from 5 PM to 7 PM at Robson Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held on October 30, 2024, at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Holcomb, Kansas, followed by a burial at Ulysses Cemetery, Ulysses, Kansas.

Wayne Griffin leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and a passion for education that will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
