Wayland Craig Clanton, 65, of Liberal, Kansas passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at his home in Liberal, Kansas.

He was born to Wayland Gerald and Marie (Wiles) Clanton on October 6, 1957 in Shattuck, Oklahoma. He was a lifetime resident of Liberal, Kansas and attended Liberal schools.

Following high school graduation he married Marcia Wesley on April 28, 1979 in Liberal. KS. Marcia was the love of Craig’s life.

He was employed with Ralston Purina for over 12 years. He managed The Hobby Shop where he met many lifelong friends. Craig then accepted a job with Rick McMichael at McMichael’s Plumbing until his cancer diagnosis in 2015. In addition to their working relationship, Craig and Rick remained close friends.

Craig had many loves and hobbies including flying RC airplanes, golf, fishing and motorcycles, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his grandsons Brayden and Mason Clanton.

Craig is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Marcia, Son, Wayland Shane Clanton and his wife Sheila of Garden City, KS; Daughter, Crystal Clanton of Las Vegas, NV; Sister, Kayla Hall and husband Jeff of Liberal, KS; Two Brothers, Jerry Clanton of Liberal, KS, Garry Clanton of Lakewood, CO; Two Grandsons, Brayden Clanton of Garden City, KS, Mason Clanton of Garden City, KS; Mother In Law, Pat Hendrix of Las Vegas, NV; Brother In Law, Ruma Valles of Liberal, KS; Numerous Nieces & Nephews.

He was preceded in death by his Father, Gerald Clanton, Mother, Marie Skinner, Sister, Karen Valles, Nephew, Austin Clanton.

Visitation will be Tuesday, January 31, 2023 1:00 – 7:00 pm at the Miller Mortuary Chapel; the family will be present to greet friends from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, 2:00 pm at the Miller Mortuary Chapel with Brent Broadfoot, officiating.

The family suggests memorial to Angels for Animals or Southwest Miracles in care of Miller Mortuary PO Box 826 Liberal, KS 67905-0826.
