Wanda May (Durham) Alexander

Wanda May (Durham) Alexander, 85 years old, of Satanta, Kansas passed away on Friday, November 4, 2022, at Kearny County Hospital, Lakin, Kansas.

Wanda was born to Louis and Bertie (Thornton) Durham on May 18, 1937, in Cedaredge, Colorado. The family moved to Satanta, Kansas when Wanda was 3 years old.

Wanda met the love of her life, Alfred Alexander their senior year of high school, and they were married a year later on May 12, 1956. They were married for 66 wonderful years, and to this union were born 4 children Danny, Darren, Darla, and Darcy. She enjoyed the farm life and Wanda thrived at being a homemaker and mother. They also opened their home to several kids who needed a place to stay. She was good at loving the ones that needed it. There were no strangers at her home.

She was a member of the Pleasant Prairie Church of God where she and Alfred were married and raised their children. She loved kids and taught Sunday School and Children’s Church for many years. She also was a member of the Christian Women’s Connection.

Her family was the biggest enjoyment of her life. She loved to cook for all her grandchildren and when they would bring their friends over, she cooked for them all. Her specialty was chocolate chip pancakes, and all her grandkids loved them. She was always present at her kids’ activities and when her sons attended college in Wichita she was there for the games. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, cross stitching, Beanie Babies, sunflowers, playing the card game “Skipo” and puzzles.

She is survived by her loving husband Alfred Alexander, Satanta, Kansas; three sons, Danny Alexander and wife Carol, Satanta, Kansas, Darren Alexander and wife Lauri, Anthony, Kansas, Darcy Alexander and wife Sarah, Satanta, Kansas, and one daughter, Darla Hubbard and husband Troy, Fairview, Oklahoma; one sister, Lana Parthemer and husband Jerry, Frankfort, Kansas; 12 grandchildren, Ty, Tucker, Trevor, Katie Beth, Western, Heath, Buck, Maylea, Marshall, Macklin Alexander, Taela and Taten Hubbard; 10 great-grandchildren and many other family and friends.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother, Vernon Durham, a brother, Earl Durham, and two sisters, Geneva Alexander, and Janie Lloyd.

A memorial has been established for the Latin American Children’s Fund (Sister Co’s School). In the care of Robson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 747, Satanta, Kansas 67870.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2022, from 2 P.M. to 6 P.M. and Thursday, November 10, 2022, from 10 A.M. to 6 P.M. and family will receive friends from 4 P.M. to 6 P.M. at Robson Funeral Home, Satanta, Kansas.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, November 11, 2022, at 2 P.M. at Pleasant Prairie Church of God, Satanta, Kansas. The church will have a live stream of the service on its Facebook page.
