Vonn John Richardson (84) of Plains, Kansas passed away surrounded by his loving family on March 23, 2017.
He was born November 30, 1932, in Liberal, Kansas to Ben and Edna (Beaver) Richardson. He graduated from Kismet High School in Kismet, Kansas. Shortly after High School, he began a long and successful farming career, which he continued until his death.
In 1955, he married the love of his life, Faye Reiss, of Plains, Kansas. This marked the beginning of many wonderful adventures for the devoted couple. They were avid travelers, traveling to many destinations throughout the world until her death in 2015. Aside from farming, his favorite activities included playing cards, square dancing, golfing, fishing and spending time with his family. Vonn enjoyed serving his community and sharing his knowledge with others through participation in various civic and private company endeavors. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Plains United Methodist Church and the Plains Country Club. He served several terms on the Board of Directors of Southwestern Heights High School, the Plains City Council and Citizens State Bank in Liberal, Kansas. He is a past President of the Plains Equity Exchange and was elected and served many years as the regional representative on the Farmland Industries Board of Directors.
Survivors include his three children: Connie Kelly and husband Timothy of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Jamie Eakes and husband Dan of Plains, Kansas and Todd Richardson and wife Deborah of Wichita, Kansas. Other survivors include four grandsons: J. Daniel Eakes, Harrison Eakes, Benjamin Richardson and Luke Richardson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and brother.
The funeral will be held at the Plains United Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2017. A private burial will follow at the Plains Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday, March 27, 2017 at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade, Kansas. The family suggests memorials to the Plains United Methodist Church.
