Vivian Joyce Sagebiel

Vivian Joyce Sagebiel, age 72, of Elkhart, Kansas died July 11, 2012 at Morton County Hospital in Elkhart, Kansas. She was born May 19, 1940 in Elkhart, Kansas the daughter of Herb and Virgie (Lewis) Pate.
Joyce was a lifetime resident of Elkhart graduating from Elkhart High School. She married Jim Sagebiel on June 4, 1958 in Elkhart. Joyce was a bookkeeper for Spur Feeders and worked at the El Rancho Motel. She retired from CIG after 21 years of service. She also worked on the farm and drove truck, tractor and combine. Joyce enjoyed spending the weekends with her kids at their rodeos and attending football games. She also served as a Cub Scout Leader and on the Elkhart Cemetery board for a number of years.
Survivors include her husband, Jim of the home; sons, Dennis James Sagebiel and wife Susan of Glendale, Arizona, William Dale Sagebiel and wife Christine of Glendale, Arizona, David Wayne Sagebiel of Elkhart, Kansas; brother, Wesly Pate of Athens, Georgia; sisters, Betsy Peterson of San Diego, California, Martha Richards of Kansas City, Kansas, June Elder of Las Vegas, Nevada; nine grandchildren, Kayci Sagebiel, Kaitlyn Sagebiel, Jessica Lueras, Stephanie Geeze, T’nette Sagebiel, Nikki O’linger, Katherine Castillo, Victoria Sagebiel, and Sarah Sagebiel; and ten great-grandchildren.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Herb and Virgie Pate; and brother, Ben Pate.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 14, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the United Methodist Church in Elkhart, Kansas with Reverend Dennis Reimer presiding. Interment will be at the Elkhart Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Ben Pate Memorial Fund for a waterfall at the golf course, or United Methodist Church in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 854, Elkhart, KS 67950.
