Virginia M. Howeth

Virginia M. Howeth , age 88, died Sunday, September 18, 2011 at Blue River Rehabilitation Center , Kansas City, MO.

She was born July 21, 1923 at Sulphur , OK , the daughter of Lewis Amos and Mable Lucille (Cook) Vernon .

She graduated from Sulphur High School in 1942, and on September 21, 1942, she married Orbra P. Howeth at Sulphur , OK . He went home to be with the Lord on October 6, 2000.

They had lived in Sulphur , Tonkawa and Norman Oklahoma for many years. In 1999, they moved to Liberal, KS to be near their daughter. In 2010, her daughter’s retirement prompted a move to Lee’s Summit , MO where she resided until her death.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed hobbies of sewing clothes for her children, crocheting, and other crafts. She also baby sat for many years in her home in Tonkawa. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Tonkawa, OK where she worked in the nursery and toddlers Sunday School for several years.

Virginia and her husband Orbra also enjoyed camping and spent several years traveling in their RV visiting family and many areas in Texas and Oklahoma .

Son: Alan D. Howeth of Livingston , TX

Daughter: Gayle J. O’Kane and husband Donald of Lee’s Summit, MO

Sister: Lois Barr of San Antonio , TX

4 Grandchildren: Patrick O’Kane and wife Kristi, Stephanie D. Swindler and husband Jon, Doug A Howeth and wife Jennifer, Carri J. Warren and husband Kendall.

7 Great-Grandchildren: Macayla N. O’Kane, Jakob D. O’Kane, Willem A. Swindler, Eilee Mae Swindler, Garrett A. Warren, Logan E. Warren, and Presley A. Howeth.

She was preceded in death by her husband, and 2 infant brothers, a brother Jessie A Vernon, a sister, Wilma McDaniel and daughter-in-law, Joan Howeth.

Funeral Service will be 1:00 pm Thursday, Sept. 22nd , at Hale’s – Krien Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur , OK .

Visitation will be 10 am until service time at Hale’s – Krien Funeral Home in Sulphur , OK .

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
