Virginia L. Arheart

Virginia L. Arheart, age 88 of Elkhart, KS died Friday, August 9, 2013 at the Morton County Care Center in Elkhart, KS. She was born March 12, 1925 in Falun, KS the daughter of Gerald F. and Elsie (Johnson) Griggs.
Virginia was a graduate of Delphos High School and Emporia State University. She began her work career as a mail carrier. For a combined total of 38 years, Virginia taught English at Elkhart High School and was later the school librarian until her retirement in 1989. Virginia was a member of the United Methodist Church, Elkhart, KS and served as a Sunday school superintendent. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader and sang for church and funeral services.
Virginia married Robert L. Arheart on March 9, 1947 in Delphos, Kansas. He survives.
Other survivors include two sons; Kristopher Arheart of Miramar, FL, Robert S. and wife Marcala Arheart of Liberal, KS, one daughter; Suzie Davis of Wichita, KS, one sister; Jeanette Bergsten of Peoria, IL, seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Elkhart, KS with Reverend Dennis Reimer officiating. A private family inurnment will follow at a later date at Delphos, KS. Memorial contributions may be given to the Elkhart United Methodist Church, the Morton County Library or the Morton County Senior Center all in care of Garnand Funeral Home, P.O.
