Vicki Lynn Cox, age 68, passed away peacefully late Monday evening, December 26, 2022, at the Hospice House in Hutchinson, Kansas, surrounded by her family.
She was born March 7, 1954, in Liberal, KS, the daughter of Forest Lee and Ruth M. (Vail) Geisinger. She attended school in Plains, and graduated from Southwestern Heights High School in 1972.
On January 14, 1972, she married her high-school sweetheart, Michael Cox at Plains. The young couple made their home in Meade for many years where she worked at The Meade State Bank until her retirement. After Mike’s retirement, the couple moved to McPherson and then later Hutchinson, to be closer to family.
She was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church, Hutchinson, and the Order of the Eastern Star. Vicki enjoyed gardening, traveling to attend her grandkid’s sporting events, KU basketball, and especially spending time with her family.
She is survived by her loving husband of almost 51 years, Mike of Hutchinson, Kansas; three daughters, Jennifer Bergkamp and husband Joe of Fowler, KS, Amy Martens and husband Todd of McPherson, KS, and Heather Schlochtermeier and husband Jason of Ellinwood, KS; nine grandchildren, Caden Godfrey, Carson Godfrey, Chris (Whitney) Bergkamp, Kim (Colt) Petty, Breckyn Martens, Jordan (Kellea) Martens, Brandon (Brooke) Martens, Madisyn Schlochtermeier, and Ethan Schlochtermeier; six great- grandchildren, two brothers, Richard Geisinger and wife Loraine of Nowata, Oklahoma and Clayton Geisinger and wife Danita of Holdridge, Nebraska; and a host of extended family and friends. Vicki will be especially missed by Buddy, her beloved Shih Tzu, who was her constant companion.
Vicki is preceded in death by her parents.
Celebration of life will take place at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 28th, 2023 at St John the Baptist Catholic Church in Meade, Kansas, and interment will follow at the Plains Cemetery. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place.
The family would welcome memorials to the Hospice House of Reno County in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.
