Vicie Jane (Jones) Lopez, 83, passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at her residence.
Jane was the daughter of Willie D. and Marie Elizabeth (Moffitt) Jones. She was born on March 3, 1937 in Lubbock, Texas.
Jane and Juan (Johnny) Lopez were married on July 5, 1980 in Meade, KS. He preceded her in death on May 27, 2018.
Jane was a nurse’s aide for a lot of years and later she went to college to be a counselor for substance abuse. After she retired, she helped Cleo at Creative Specialties flower shop for many years.
Jane attended the First Christian Church of Hugoton.
She was an exemplary wife. She made her family quilts and they have enjoyed them for many years. Jane was the seamstress for the Dusk to Dawn movie that was filmed here at Hugoton.
She enjoyed spending time at Hugoton Senior Center. She loved to dance, play cards and dominoes, shoot pool, and helped the nursing home with residents’ hair and fingernails.
Survivors include two sons, Gene Shelton and wife Cheri, Liberal, KS., Jack Shelton and wife Deb, Marion, KS.; three step-daughters, Patricia Rine and husband Mark, Tribune, KS., Joann Fernandez, Belen, NM., Veronica Lopez, Denver, CO.; sister, Hazel Link, Amarillo, TX.; 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Louise Shelton, a son, Darrell Shelton, and a great granddaughter, Syndl Garrison.
A memorial has been established for Hugoton Senior Center. Memorials may be mailed to Robson Funeral Home, PO Box 236, Hugoton, Kansas 67951.
Graveside service will be held on Monday, November 30, 2020 at 2 PM at Hugoton Cemetery, Hugoton, KS with Pastor Heath Kelley presiding.
Viewing will be Sunday, November 29, 2020 from 2 PM to 8 PM at Robson Funeral Home, Hugoton, KS.
