Vernon Ronald “Skinner” Eggers, 59, lifelong panhandle resident, passed away Sunday morning, April 15, 2018 at the Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, Kansas.
The son of Vernon Chris and Hazel Ruth (McCullough) Eggers, he was born June 13, 1958 in Borger, Texas.
Ron attended the Guymon school system, was a member of the Turpin Mennonite Church and Harley Davidson Motorcycle Club.
He was united in marriage to Shirley Baker on March 3, 1990 in Liberal, Kansas. Ron and Shirley made their home in Turpin, Oklahoma. He was superintendant with Hardberger & Smylie Dirt Contractors, Beaver, Oklahoma.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon “Wormy” Eggers and Hazel “Pat” Pitts; brother, Ricky Eggers; sister, Verla Eggers; father-in-law, Eugene Baker and nephew, Steven Kirkland.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Eggers of the home; two sons, Jace Eggers and Jalena of Turpin, Payton Eggers and Kendall of Tyrone; grandson, Carson Eggers; daughter, Ronna Wilson and Shae of Freedom, Oklahoma; sister, Karen Moore and Kenneth of Alva, Oklahoma; brother, Randy Eggers and Connie of Gladewater, Texas; half brother and sister, Sammie Hagelberg of Woodward, Oklahoma and Linda Eggers of Guymon. Survivors also include his mother-in-law, Helen Baker of Guymon; brother and sister-in-laws, Darrell Baker and Sally of Tucumcari, New Mexico, Darlene Hambleton of Guymon, Clarine Ellis and Jim of Guymon, Pam Powell and Jeff of Guymon, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday morning, April 20th at 10:00 a.m. at the Trinity Faith Church, 2264 S. Kansas Ave., in Liberal, Kansas with Terry Rediger, pastor of the Turpin Mennonite Church officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. CST in the Kenton, OK Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
The Eggers family will greet friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening, April 19th between the hours of 6:00 and 9:00 p.m.
