Vernon Dale McCaulley, 76, of Liberal, passed away on Sunday June 27, 2021 at Wheatridge Care Park.
He was born on November 14, 1944 to Harvey and Arline (Halladay) McCaulley at Waverly, KS.
On February 21, 1965 he married Marian Keller at the First United Methodist Chapel Liberal, KS.
He was a graduate of Lebanon, KS High School; class of 1962. He went on to graduate from Old Town Barber College of Wichita in 1963. After graduating from Barber College he moved to Liberal where he went to work with Vic Turner at the Warren Hotel. In April of 1966 Vernon was drafted to serve in the US Army during the Vietnam War; he served for two years. Upon returning home he went on to work with Coy Miller at the El Kan Barber Shop. In 1971 he went to work with Sam Curran; they were one of the first businesses in the Southgate Mall. He retired on July 15, 2017 after 54 years as a Barber. Vernon was active throughout the Liberal community where he supported the Liberal Redskins, Kids Inc., and the Boy Scouts. Vernon enjoyed carpentry, hunting, fishing, working his hunting dogs with Bill Blasi, and spending time with his grandkids. He was a founding member of the Quails Unlimited Liberal Chapter. Vernon was a 57 year member of the First United Methodist Church of Liberal where he was active in Choir and other church functions.
Vernon is survived by his loving wife Marian, Daughter, Amy Michelle Butler of Liberal, KS; Son, Benjamin Dale McCaulley and wife Sherri of Woodbridge, VA; Brother, Roger L McCaulley of Ellsworth, KS; Two Sisters, Sharon Kay Davenport and husband Leroy of Belleville, KS, Terrie Sue Stokes and husband Charles of Red Cloud, NE; Six Grandchildren, Phalyn Butler, Madison Butler, Hunter Butler, Ashley McCaulley, Daniel McCaulley, and Hannah Butler; along with his many grand dogs and grand cats.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
There will be no viewing as cremation has taken place.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church, Pastor Jerry Odle officiating.
Inurnment will be at 2:30 pm on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at the Sunny Side Cemetery in Sun City, KS.
