Verne Calvin Rutledge

Verne Calvin Rutledge 90, died, Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal, KS.
He was born January 5, 1924 in Haskell County the son of A.C. and Bertha (Birney) Rutledge. He graduated from Sublette High School in 1942 and lived in Haskell County for 84 years before moving to Liberal, KS, living in Liberal for the past 6 years. He was farmer and Stockman in Haskell County.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of Liberal, and a past member of the Sublette Christian Church. He also is a member of the Sublette American Legion and the Liberal V.F.W.
He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the South Pacific with the 96th infantry.
On November 10, 1951 he married Ruby Snavley in Sublette, KS. She survives.

1 Daughter Vanny Greeson and husband Todd Neosho, Missouri
7 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Sonni Marie Rutledge
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday at the Sublette Christian Church with Pastors David Ervin and Terry Ford presiding. Burial will follow in Haskell County Cemetery with military honors given by the American Legion of Sublette.
Visitation time will be from 9am to 8pm Friday at Brenneman Funeral Home.
