Verna Makemson Hockett

Verna Makemson Hockett, 80, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2020 in Colorado Springs, CO, where she had resided for the past 15 years.

She was born to Ed and Phyllis (Brooks) Makemson on January 1, 1940 in Satanta, Kansas.

Verna and Jack Hockett were married on December 14, 1956. Two daughters were born to this union, Shelley and Keri.

Verna worked as Post Master in Villa Grove, CO for many years.

She was a loving mom and grandmother and an avid gardener. She passionately loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and enjoyed her Bible Study friends.

She is survived by daughters Shelley Hockett Still and Keri Hockett, both of Greeley, CO; two grandchildren Holly Haws (Chris) of Wichita, KS and Jack Still (Natalie) of St. Cloud, MN.; and was eagerly awaiting her great grandchild Still coming in July; her favorite sister (stister) Dixie Sutherland, and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack, and son-in-law Andy Still.

Memorial has been established for Springs Rescue Mission, another passion of Mom’s. Memorials may be mailed to Robson Funeral Home, PO Box 747, Satanta, KS 67877.

There will be no public viewing.

Due to CDC and Kansas Health Department recommendations of restricting gatherings of 10 people, we recommend using the Facebook Live on Robson Funeral Home Facebook Page. Graveside service will be held Thursday, May 14, 2020, 1 P.M. at Dudley Township Cemetery, Satanta, KS.
