Velma LaVon Luck, 94, died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2024, at Bethany Village Nursing Home in Lindsborg.

She was born April 17, 1930, to J.R. and Elsie Blythe in Pratt.

She married Delvin P. Luck on June 26, 1976. He preceded her in death.

Growing up, she had a love for music and played the piano for church services, weddings, and school concerts. She continued to play after moving to Liberal.

She was an active member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed spending time with her Red Hat Ladies at their regular meetings.

She worked at D.K. Zimmerman Insurance Company for many years until she retired.

She enjoyed throwing lavish dinner parties and traveling to many places with her husband and friends.

Survivors include daughters Julie Mason, Scott City, and Diana Mason, Salina, Kansas; stepdaughters, Rita and husband, Reid Beecher, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Julie and husband, Kent Blakeslee, Ellinwood, Kansas; six grandchildren: Scott Schowengerdt and wife, Sam, Salina, Kansas, Amy Evangelista and husband, James, Greenwood, Missouri, Eric Blakeslee and wife, Mackenzie, Ellinwood, Kansas, Kyle and wife, Marissa, Wichita, Kansas, Brett Beecher, Naples, Florida., and Annie and Matt Hood, Tulsa, Oklahoma; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Loren and Marlen.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, 2024, at Hornung Funeral Home at 1212 W. 2nd Street in Liberal. The family will be present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024, at Fellowship Baptist Church, 310 W. Pancake, Liberal, Kansas. The service will be livestreamed using the following link: fellowshipfamily.org

Burial will follow at Liberal City Cemetery in Liberal.

Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association in care of Hornung Funeral Home.
