Velda A. Anderson

Velda A. Anderson, age 81, of Ulysses, Kansas, died Saturday, March 2, 2019, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. She was born August 3, 1937, in Hugoton, Kansas, the daughter of Roy and Alba (Mason) Crawford.

Velda grew up in Hugoton and graduated from Hugoton High School. She married Larry Anderson on December 18, 1955, in Hugoton. Velda was a homemaker, mother, and did bookkeeping for the family fuel business. She was an active member of the Church of Christ in Ulysses, and Caterpillars and Butterflies. Velda and Larry were also active in the Bus Ministry, which provided rides to church for children. She enjoyed doing crafts, painting, cross stitch and crocheting; and had made every family member a Christmas stocking.

Velda is survived by her husband, Larry; sons, Steven and wife Sally of Rockwall, Texas, David and wife Debbie of Aurora, Colorado, Mike and wife Kristi of Ulysses, and Troy and Tressa of Ulysses; sister, Norma Stoddard of Hugoton; nine grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Velda is preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Lloyd Crawford, Floyd Crawford, and Everett Crawford.

Funeral service will be Thursday, March 7, 2019, at 10:30 AM at Ulysses Church of Christ with Velda Anderson family officiating. Graveside service will be Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Hugoton Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 6, 2019, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, with family present, at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
