Duvijen V. Fira, age 83, formerly of Johnson, Kansas died Sunday, March 29, 2015, at The Villas at Sunny Acres in Thornton, Colorado. He was born April 24, 1931, in Sinton, Texas, the son of Ramon and Victoria (Vasquez) Fira.
Duvijen grew up in Sinton, Texas. He married Margaret R. Rodriguez on September 26, 1964, in Clovis, New Mexico. Duvijen was a longtime Johnson, Kansas resident. He worked at Johnson Co-op in the fertilizer department and elevator; retiring after 33 years of service. He moved to Salina, Kansas in 2008 and to Denver in 2012 to be near family. Duvijen enjoyed fishing, outdoor activities, and had a love of cars. He was a member of the St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Johnson and attended St. Jude Catholic Church in Denver. Duvijen was known to lend a hand to others without question.
He is survived by sons, Ramon Fira and wife Dee of Garden City, Kansas, Robert Fira and wife Cindy of Lakewood, Colorado, and Esiquio Fira and wife Mikaela of Wichita, Kansas; daughter, Rebecca Small of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren, Robert Tylor, Katlin, Megan, Ashley, Janessa, Logan, and Rylee,; and two great-grandchildren; extended family, sons, Eloy Fira and wife Sara of Warrant, Texas, and Aaron Fira of Oklahoma; daughter, Lenora Estrada and husband Louis of Lubbock, Texas; grandchildren, Stephanie, Eloy Jr., Anthony, Nicole, Serena, Matthew, Heather, Leslie, Celleste, Veronica, Martha and Joanie; and eighteen great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret in 1997; and brother, Fred Fira; and Eduvigen Fira.
Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 6, 2015 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Johnson, Kansas with Reverend James Dieker officiating. Interment will follow at the Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson, Kansas. Friends may call from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson.
