Troy Kelly Klein, age 44, of Syracuse, Kansas died Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Kearny County Hospital, Lakin, Kansas. He was born October 8, 1966 in Canyon, TX, the son of Gerald and Joyce (Bruntzel) Klein.

Troy grew up in Ulysses where he attended school and graduated from Ulysses High School in 1985. He then went on to attend Fort Hays University, Wichita State University and Panhandle State University. Throughout the past several years, Troy lived in Wichita, Kansas, Albuquerque, NM, Virginia Beach, VA and Syracuse, Kansas. Troy was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing, shooting sports and NASCAR.

He is survived by his significant other; Kim Dewey of Syracuse, KS, his parents; Gerald and Joyce Klein of Ulysses, KS, one brother; Derek Klein of Ulysses, KS, and one sister; Lexy Klein of Ulysses, KS, his grandparents; Ed and Rosalyn Bruntzel of Larned, KS, aunts and uncles; Jennifer and Dennis Kepka of Wilson, KS, Joseph and Darlene Freize of Bismark, ND, Reyne and Joyce Hoffman of Grand Rapids, ND, mother-in-law; Alvena Dewey of Syracuse, KS, Brother-in-laws; Wade Dewey and Dan Dewey of Syracuse, KS, sister-in-law; Pam and Duane Lacost of Kendall, KS, two borrowed kids; Brett and Garret Cornelson of Ulysses, KS, one dog; Curly “squirrel”, seven nephews and four nieces.

Troy is preceded in death by his grandparents; Edward and Clara Klein, his uncle and aunt Donald and Marleta Klein.

Memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Shelton Memorial Christian Church, Ulysses, Kansas with Reverend Bill Harrold officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to the Troy Klein Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
