Thomas Paul “Tom” Mein

Thomas Paul “Tom” Mein , 66, died Thursday, January 23, 2014 at Liberal Good Samaritan Center, Liberal, KS.
He was born April 18, 1947 in Ida Grove, IA, the son of Robert J. and Edith (Sears) Mein. Tom was a 1965 graduate of Ida Grove High School. He served in the U. S. Navy from 1965-1969. He attended Wayne State College in Wayne, NE, where he met his beloved wife, Gwen Struthers.
On April 18, 1970, they married at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sioux City, IA. They were married 40 years before she died on August 7, 2010.
Following their marriage, the couple moved frequently, due to career progression. Making homes in Early, IA; Crete, NE; Wall Lake, IA; Lincoln, NE; Ralston, NE; Elkhorn, NE; Stockton, MO; and Galion, OH until moving to Liberal, KS for 17 years before retiring to Lake Jeffery, Brady, NE in 2006.
Tom was a successful businessman. He was a sales executive with several agriculture companies. He became a financial advisor in 1986 and at the time of his retirement in 2006, he was Vice-President of Investments with A.G. Edwards & Sons.
He was a former member of the Liberal Country Club and Rotary Club. He loved surrounding himself with his family and friends while fishing, golfing, hunting or just having fun.
Survivors include:
Son: Casey Mein and wife Nadine of Liberal, KS;
Daughters: Amy (Mein) Kutemeier and husband Rod of DeLand, FL;
and Andrea (Mein) Pritchard and husband Matt of Bellevue, WA;
3 Brothers: Bob Mein and wife Cammy of Storm Lake, IA;
Andy Mein and wife Carrie of Kerrville, TX; and
Joe Mein and wife Karen of Coeur d’Alene, ID
2 Sisters: Judy Chacon of Phoenix, AZ and Joan Mein-Hall of Clear Lake, IA;
6 Grandchildren: CoreyAnne Mein, Valarie Kutemeier, Sarah Mein, Sabrina Kutemeier, Andrew Pritchard and Thomas Ryan Mein.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gwen and his parents.
Vigil and Rosary Service will be 6 pm Friday, Jan. 31st at Brenneman Funeral Home, Liberal.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am Saturday, Feb. 1st at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Liberal with Fr. James Dieker presiding.
Visitation will be held from 4 – 8 pm on Friday at Brenneman Funeral Home with the family to greet friends from 7 – 8 pm at the funeral home.
