Terry L. Adams

Terry Lynn Adams, 61, died Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Neb.

He was born Oct. 25, 1951, to Harold Vernon and Elda Eileene (Holmes) Adams in Quinter.

He married Vicki L. Kollmeyer Aug. 2, 1980 in Denver. She survives.

He graduated from Hoxie High School in 1969 and later attended Garden City Community College. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in education from the University of Kansas where he played as a defensive lineman for the KU Jayhawks football team. He earned his Masters degree in education administration from Wichita State University and additional district certification from Pittsburgh State University.

He taught and coached high school football at Hoxie, WaKeeney and Pratt Skyline. He was a principal at West Franklin High School in Pomona for 13 years. He moved to Liberal in 2003 where he worked as assistant principal at Liberal High School. In 2006, he became Director of Technology for USD No. 480. He retired in 2011.

He was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church and a past sponsor of Ottawa Suzuki Strings.

He enjoyed spending time with family, golfing, watching KU sports, travel and computers.

He is also survived by his two sons, Andrew Christopher Adams, Liberal, and Matthew Aaron Adams, Liberal; one daughter, Bethany Lynn Adams, Liberal; three brothers, Eldon Adams, Lompoc, Calif., Edward Adams and wife, Betty, Humboldt, and David Adams, Bentonville, Ark.; one sister, Sheryl Kaufman and husband, Richard, Wichita; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Andrew Wehling presiding.

Burial will follow at Liberal Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Brenneman Funeral Home with family to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

In lieu of flowers and plants, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Terry L. Adams Memorial Fund or Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in care of Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. 2nd St., Liberal, KS 67901.
