Teresa A. Garza

Teresa A. Garza, age 74, of Kismet, Kansas, passed away on April 12, 2025, at St. Catherine’s Hospital in Dodge City, Kansas.

Born on June 7, 1950, in Victoria, Texas, she was the daughter of Eliseo and Patricia (Ramos) Arellano.

In 1970, she married her beloved husband, Samuel Garza, and they created a loving home in Kismet, Kansas.

Teresa dedicated a significant part of her life to her career as a Head Cook for USD 483 Kismet Plains. She cherished time spent with family. She enjoyed casino outings, and showed great enthusiasm for gardening, cooking, traveling, and supporting the Kansas City Chiefs. Teresa was a devoted member of St. Patrick’s Church in Plains, KS; her faith was an important aspect of her life, and she continually sought to deepen her understanding of it.

Teresa is survived by her loving husband, Samuel, their two daughters, Nacaria G. Hines of Kismet, KS, and Elizabeth P. (Keenan) Thompson of Liberal, KS; three sons, Andrew A. Garza of Kismet, KS, Steve A. (Leticia) Garza of Liberal, KS, and Adam A. (Melissa) Garza of Turpin, OK; 12 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren. She is also remembered by her five brothers: Eliseo (Debbie) Arellano, Jr. of Centralia, MO, Alfred R. (Patricia) Arellano of Amarillo, TX, Herbert R. (Maria) Arellano of Liberal, KS, Armando R. (Elisabet) Arellano of Alamogordo, NM, and Gustavo R. Arellano of Victoria, TX; along with five sisters: Anita Segura of Union City, CA, Felicita Baldivia of Joliet, IL, Nieves Gerhardt of Crowell, TX, Patricia (Jose) Adame of Kismet, KS, and Maria Hall of Wichita, KS.

Preceding her in death were her father, Eliseo C. Arellano; mother, Patricia R. Arellano; sister, Lupe Arellano; sister, Guadalupe Arellano; and brothers John, Anselmo V., and Aaron Arellano.

There will be no viewing as cremation has taken place.

Rosary Service will be held on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at 5:00 pm at St. Patrick Catholic Church.

Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Plains, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to St. Patrick’s Parish P.O. Box 247 Plains, KS 67869.
