Sylvia Nadine Cantrell, 95, of Liberal, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024 in Amarillo, TX.
She was born on October 6, 1928 to Ray and Vivian (Farris) Whitmer at Turpin, OK.
In 1946 she married Donald Clark; he died in 1947. On May 28, 1976 she married Andrew Cantrell Jr. in Liberal, KS.
Nadine attended school in Tyrone, OK. She had worked at Duckwalls in Liberal & Guymon and was a Southwestern Bell Telephone Operator. Nadine was also a waitress at the El Rancho Cafe from 1951-1963 then at the HWY 54 Diner from 1963-1971. In 1977 she and her husband moved to Noel, MO where she worked as a Nut Inspector at the Black Walnut plant in Gravette, Arkansas. She returned back to the Liberal area in 2000. Nadine enjoyed fishing and cooking. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, canning, watching hummingbirds, spoiling her cat “Porky”, and supporting KC Royals and Chicago Cubs Baseball. Nadine was a former member of VFW Auxiliary of Anderson, MO and the Tyrone, OK Baptist Church.
Nadine is survived by her Three Granddaughters, Marcy Cantrell-Akin, Brandi Cantrell, of Manhattan, KS and Alysia Kane of Denver, CO; Two Grandsons, Lance Cantrell and Kahn Cantrell; Great Grandson, Kole Akin; Great Granddaughter, Joslyn Nixon; Daughter in Law, Mary Cantrell.
She was also preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, Andrew Cantrell Jr., Son, George Ray Clark, two Stepsons, Harry Cantrell and Albert Cantrell, two Brothers, Kenneth Whitmer and Harold Whitmer,
There will be no viewing as cremation has taken place.
