Susan G. Mason

Susan G. Mason, age 57, died Thursday, December 28, 2023, at her home in Ulysses. She was born December 23, 1966, in Ulysses, Kansas, to Gayland Eugene and Judith Lee (Powers) Sthole.

Susan grew up in Ulysses and graduated with the class of 1985. Susan married Brian Mason on June 5, 1993, in Ulysses. For a number of years, she worked at Peddlers Inn Restaurant, was formerly the secretary of the Mennonite Brethren Church, and a current member and secretary of the First Nazarene Church of Ulysses. Susan loved Jesus and was very involved in the church and loved being a grandma. Some of her hobbies included doing arts and crafts for people, gardening, genealogy, crocheting, rugs, quilting, sewing, and embroidering.

Susan is survived by her husband, Brian of their home; sons, Jesse Cantrell and wife, Danni, of Grove, Oklahoma, Dalton Kincaid of Fairfield, Illinois, and Mickey Mason of Ulysses; mother, Judy Sthole of Ulysses; sisters, Melissa Collier and husband, Lance, of Moore, Oklahoma, Dana McDaniel and Kenten Peters of Ulysses; mother-in-law, June Mason of Ulysses; father-in-law, Garland Mason of Satanta; three grandchildren, Kendyl and Kanyon Cantrell, and Izabelle Kincaid; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Susan is preceded in death by her father, Gayland Sthole; daughter, Myranda Hope Mason; niece, Veronica McDaniel; and nephew, Matthew Collier.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Shelton Memorial Christian Church in Ulysses with Pastor Nathan Gift officiating. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, January 1, 2024, from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Tuesday, January 2, 2024, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
