Sulema Leal Barron

Sulema Leal Barron, age 87, of Ulysses, Kansas, died Sunday, May 26, 2019, at her daughter’s home in Ulysses. She was born December 19, 1931, in Karnes City, Texas, the daughter of Pedro and Lupe (Longoria) Leal.

Sulema married Cresencio Escobedo Barron on June 15, 1959, in Brownfield, Texas. She was a very feisty person, a housewife, and head cook at American Legion. Sulema loved tending her rose gardens and being outside. She was a very good cook and loved sharing her time with family and visiting with friends. Sulema was a member of Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses.

Survivors include her sons, Mike Miranda and wife Pat of Lubbock, Texas, Abundio Barron and wife Tamara of Hutchinson, Kansas, Daniel Vizcaino III and wife Nancy of Midland, Texas; daughters, Dianna Olivas and husband Faby, Maggie Ledesma and husband Victor, and Debbie Barron all of Ulysses, Kansas, and Susana Barron of Hutchinson, Kansas; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Sulema is preceded in death by her parents; husband Cresencio; sister, Balbina Longoria Leal; and son, Cresencio Barron, Jr.

Rosary and vigil service will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2019, and funeral mass will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 31, 2019, both at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses, Kansas, with Reverend James Baker officiating. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses, Kansas. Visitation will be Thursday, May 30, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses, Kansas.
