Stanley H. “Stan” Wilbers

Stanley H. “Stan” Wilbers, 80, died Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS.

He was born July 11, 1933 in Westphalia, Missouri, the son of Joseph L. and Ida (Rudroff) Wilbers. He graduated in 1951 from St. Joseph High School in Westphalia, MO and in 1960 graduated from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, MO.

He has been a resident of Liberal since 1976. He was an accountant for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Co. from 1960-1976 and then from 1976 to 1990, he was the Vice-President of National Helium. In 1990, he became the Finance Director for the City of Liberal, retiring in 1995.

He was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Early Risers Kiwanis, Focus on the Future, Liberal Bee Jays Board and the Seward County Community College Saints Booster Club.

On Sept. 24, 1966 he married Helen L. Skinner in Kansas City, MO. She survives.

He was a US Army veteran serving in the Korean War from 1953 – 1955.

2 Grandchildren: Bailey Wilbers and Brett Wilbers.

Graveside service will be held at 10:00 am Monday at Liberal Cemetery with Fr. Hector De La Vaga presiding. Military Honors will be given by the American Legion Post #80.

Visitation time will be Sunday from 1-3 pm with the family present to receive guests at Brenneman Funeral Home. Casket will remain closed.

In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials may be sent to the St. Anthony Catholic Church Building Fund in care of Brenneman Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd Liberal, KS 67901.
