Sondra Mae Purser

Sondra Mae Purser, age 71, of Ulysses, Kansas died Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at her home in Ulysses, Kansas. She was born May 22, 1943 at home on the ranch in Lipscomb County, Texas, the daughter of Joe N. and Myrtle Mae (Green) Johnson.

Sondra was employed by USD 214 for many years. She was also a bookkeeper at Dowell-Schlumberger and ended her career at Merritt Oil. Sondra enjoyed woodworking, carpentry work, and remodeling.

She is survived by her daughter, Sheila Brown and husband Terry of Ulysses, Kansas; brothers, Lonnie Johnson and wife Noella of Wild Horse, Colorado, Gerald Johnson and wife Reneta of Great Bend, Kansas; sister, Betty Jo Stout and husband Marvin of Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren, Terra Badowski of Olathe, Kansas, and Cory Brown and wife Stacey of Spring Hill, Kansas; four great-grandchildren, and 11 nieces and nephews.

Sondra is preceded in death by her parents; sons, Robert Dale Purser and Rick Purser; and sister, Eva Gadzinski.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Ulysses, Kansas with Reverend Kelly Gindlesberger officiating. Burial will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses, Kansas. Friends may call from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, February 13, 2015 at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. Memorial contributions may be given to the Shelton Memorial Christian Church in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
