Soledad Flores de Mendoza

Soledad Flores de Mendoza, age 80, of Ulysses, Kansas, died Friday, June 1, 2018, at the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. She was born November 6, 1937, in Julimes, Chihuahua, Mexico, the daughter of Nicacio and Andrea (Pando) Flores.
She grew up in Mexico and was very active in the Catholic Church, prayed the Rosary, was a Lector and traveled from town to town in Mexico proclaiming the Gospel. Reading her Bible and daily devotions were very much a part of her life. The last 20 years she has lived in Ulysses and enjoyed spending time with her family.
On January 29, 1958, she married Emilio Mendoza in Julimes, Chihuahua, Mexico, he survives. Other survivors include four daughters, Abilia Mendoza of Meoqui Chihuahua Mexico, Armida Mendoza of Ulysses, Kansas, Socorro Lara of Sweet Water, Texas, and Esperanza Porras of Ulysses, Kansas; two brothers, Jose Flores of Julimes, Chihuahua, Mexico and Adan Flores of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one sister, Socorro Lerma of Anthony, New Mexico; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Soledad was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Baltazar Flores.
Vigil and Rosary will be Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at 7:00 PM and Funeral Mass will be Thursday, June 7, 2018, at 10:00 AM both at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Reverend Peter Fernandez officiating. Burial will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses, Kansas. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 6, 2018, from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses, Kansas.
