She was born at home September 17, 1934, to Everett and Elaine Clinesmith and grew up in Southwest Kansas. Shirley married Kenneth Davis on October 4, 1959. They were married 42 years and Shirley often said Kenneth was the love of her life. They farmed together and raised Lhaso Apso puppies. One of her favorite memories of their marriage was taking trips in their Winnebago, camping with friends.
Shirley was “big sister” to Karen Clinesmith Steele Rodriguez. They were best friends and enjoyed many travels together including Italy, Mexico, an Alaskan Cruise and Disneyland with several other family members.
Some of Shirley’s favorite things were time with family, making her famous sweet potatoes for every family holiday, reading novels, eating Braum’s banana splits and Cheetos. Everyone who loved her knows she loved the color purple and wore it often.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents and husband.
She is survived by her sister, Karen and brother-in-law Richard Rodriguez of Rolla, Kansas; three nieces, Roxanna Chana and husband Richard, Dianna Steele, and Lisa Burke and husband John; God-daughter, Debra Williams and husband Harry; five grand-nieces and nephews, and numerous great-grand nieces and nephews.
