Sheryl Sue (George) Gray

Sheryl Sue (George) Gray, 78, peacefully transitioned from this life to her Heavenly Home on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton, Kansas. Born on July 19, 1946, she was the cherished daughter of Dale Knox and Norma Louise (Ireland) George.

Sheri’s journey took her to Denver, Colorado, where she pursued her passion for helping others by earning an associate’s degree as an X-ray technician. For many years, she dedicated her skills and heart to the community at Stevens County Hospital, where she found great fulfillment in her work and the compassionate service it allowed her to provide.

A lifelong member of the First Christian Church of Hugoton, Sheri’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She actively participated in church activities, particularly enjoying the nurturing of the gardening beds, which reflected her love for nature and growth. Her enthusiasm for gardening, baking, and sharing life with her beloved dog Minni brought her immense joy. Additionally, her childhood in the beautiful outdoors of Colorado instilled in her a deep appreciation for nature and all things equestrian.

Sheri is survived by her loving brother Donald Dale George; nephew Travis George, niece Marcie (George) Potthoff, and her children Dylan Potthoff and Kayla Keil; niece Becky and husband Bill Fussner and her children, Merry husband Ray Lai, and their children, Leo Lai, Freya Lai, Amanda, and husband Brandon Hatch and their children, Aesir Hatch and Wren Hatch; Thomas and wife Tempest Mitchell and their children, Brantley Tagtmeyer, Gracelynne Mitchell and great-niece, Lauren Murphy, and many distant relatives. She leaves many dear, loving friends from her First Christian Church Family of Hugoton and lifelong friends.

She was preceded in death by her adoring parents, sister, Joyce Kay Screws, and nephew, Darren Screws.

A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at 12 PM, at First Christian Church, Hugoton.
