Sheila M. Scribner, age 66, passed away late Friday evening, February 4, 2022, at the Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center, Denver, Colorado.

She was born September 25, 1955, at Meade, Kansas, the daughter of John Harold and Mary (Trainor) Clay. As a young girl, she attended school in Meade, graduating from Meade High School in 1973. She later attended Fort Hays State University and Kansas State University. After college, she returned to Meade and later moved to Dodge City. She then moved to Norman, Oklahoma, in 1984.

In June, 1987, she married Douglas Scribner at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After their marriage, the couple made their home in the Oklahoma City area until 2000 when they returned back to Meade. In 2009, they moved to Colorado for four years before returning to Meade in 2013. While in Meade, she worked as a paraprofessional and substitute school teacher for the Meade USD 226 school system.

She was a member of Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church, Meade. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, reading, decorating, helping her sister with her gardening and landscaping, and most of all, being and mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband Doug of Meade; a son, Lucas Scribner of Meade; two daughters, Elizabeth Scribner of Kansas City, Missouri, and Kenda Bailey of Moore, Oklahoma; three brothers, Lance Clay of Pensacola, Florida, Blaise Clay of Durango, Colorado, and Barry Clay of Alsea, Oregon; three sisters, Lissa McBride of Mobile, Alabama, Heather Clay and Lori Crain, both of Meade; and six grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother Traynor Clay.

Vigil services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 18, 2022, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Meade. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2022, at the church. There will be not public viewing, as cremation has taken place. Interment will follow the services in the Graceland Cemetery, Meade.
