Schenena ‘Nena’ Jean Porter, 71, died Sunday, January 30, 2022 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
She was born on May 2, 1950 in Stroud, Oklahoma, the daughter of Hulen Payne “Corky” and Wilma Jean Jones.
Schenena graduated from Liberal High School. On November 18, 1967 she married Melvin Carl Porter in Liberal. He preceded her in death on June 29, 2013.
She worked for many years as a Daycare Provider. Schenena was a member of Beta Sigma Phi. She loved to gamble, and to play slots, where she would have a drink in one hand and a cigarette in the other. She was a big shopper, and loved to shop for purses, shoes and anything for the grandkids. She loved her sci fi movies. She made the best sugar cookies with butter cream frosting, and great popcorn balls. Schenena was the boss of the family, and was a very loving and giving grandma.

Best friend Joy Beasley of Kismet, Kansas
Grandchildren
Morgan Sagstetter and her husband David, Kennedy Brian and her husband Justin, Keaton Jackson and Catie Jackson.
And the many ‘Nena’ kids she watched over the 40 years of in home daycare she provided.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Melvin, and her son Kelly Brooks Porter.
Per Schenena’s wishes, no services will be held.
