Ruth Maxine (Scott) Trimmell, 96, passed away on Friday, August 19, 2022 at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden, City, Kansas. She was born on June 16, 1926 to Cora Lucille (Martz) and Earl William Scott at Santa Ana, California.
As a child, Ruth enjoyed playing jacks, roller skating and playing baseball. She attended school in rural Seward County north of Liberal until they moved into town. She graduated from Liberal High School in 1946.
After graduating she worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company before marrying her husband, Kennith Trimmell on July 11, 1947 in Tucumcari, NM. As a homemaker she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, canning, gardening, growing flowers, and playing cards. She attend the First Presbyterian Church in Liberal until she moved to Garden City, then she attended the Presbyterian Church of Garden City.
Ruth is survived by her children, Carl Trimmell and wife Linda of Bentinville, AR, and Connie Griffin and husband Wayne of Garden City, KS; Grandchildren Tim Trimmell and wife Michelle of Phoenix, AZ, Matt Trimmell and wife Tina of Pea Ridge, AR, Jill Brown of Omaha, NE, Amy Griffin and husband Nathan Manring of Holcomb, KS, AJ Griffin, and wife Emily of St. George, KS; great-grandchildren, Cody Trimmell, Jaelyn Haynes, Dalton Trimmell, Alexis Trimmell, Austin Manring, Nola Brown, Kylie Griffin, Ty Griffin, Weston Manring, Wrenlynn Manring, and Harper Griffin; five great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Nancy Manley of Colorado Springs, Co, Kay Anderson of Georgia, and Mary Manley and husband Bob of Calihan, Co.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Kennith Trimmell; sons, Kennith Keith Trimmell, Jr., and Alan Hugh Trimmell; granddaughter, Angela Griffin; parents, Earl and Cora Scott; brothers, Gary Scott, Kermit Scott, Earl Scott Jr, John Scott, and Charles Scott; sisters, Martha Rokeh, Minnie May Brune, and Margaret Ogletree.
Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at the Presbyterian Church in Garden City, Kansas.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 26, 2022 at the Presbyterian Church in Garden City, Kansas with Rev. Doris A. Evans and Pastor Jack Craig presiding. Interment will be at Liberal Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
